Technical Difficulties

But our trip took an unexpected turn when the flight (with all of us aboard) spent 3 hours at the gate while technicians tried to fix the lights on the cockpit’s instrument panel. An additional hour after the flight was canceled found us on the way to a motel to wait the day out in Las Vegas for a flight 12 hours later. We were supposed to arrive in Miami at 9:00 AM and the cruise loads at 2:00 PM. We are so fortunate that our travel agent at Alaska’s Travel Source had us coming in to Miami a day early; she anticipated the possibility of a canceled flight. Otherwise, we’d be out of luck!
Our hotel included meal vouchers at Ellis Island Brewery and Restaurant, which was a great place! (I am almost positive that The Hungry Detective on the Food Network did a report on it.) For lunch, Kirk had a steak and egg breakfast for $6.96, and Martina had shrimp scampi for $5.95. The portions were generous, and the food was great! Then to top things off, Kirk put $2 in the slot machines and walked away with $13.75. Not a huge jackpot, but it took care of some expenses! ☺

Hey.. any win is a win - I'm jealous you got to enjoy vegas! The NY NY is indeed awesome - I loved it there. My favorite part of caesars is the way the ceilings change colors to mimic night and day and even sunsets and what not. Sounds like you're having a ball though!
